Friend:
Today is the day that President Trump’s discriminatory Denial of Care Rule would have gone into effect, if not for the lawsuits filed by AU and our allies.
Thankfully, we secured a huge victory on Tuesday in our Santa Clara, Calif., case against the Trump administration: U.S. District Judge William Alsup threw out the rule in its entirety, making it crystal clear that the administration’s attempt to misuse religious freedom was unlawful and wrong:
“When a rule is so saturated with error, as here, there is no point in trying to sever the problematic provisions. The whole rule must go.” — U.S. District Judge William Alsup
That was strike three against the rule, since two other judges have ruled similarly over the past few weeks.

Thanks to our incredible legal team and all of you who generously support our work, today we can rest assured that patients will not be denied health care because of someone else’s religious beliefs. We know the Trump administration won’t stop pushing this dangerous rule, but we also know the law, the Constitution and the majority of Americans who rely on our health care system to help them when they need it are on our side.
As we enter this season of giving thanks, please know that we are forever greatful for your enduring support. Thank you for being an American United.
With hope and determination,
