John,
A new Americans for Tax Fairness report shows that America’s now 740 billionaires have seen their wealth grow by a whopping $2 trillion during the pandemic, or 70%.[1] Meanwhile working people have been rocked by the volatility and uncertainty the pandemic has brought into their lives, with many struggling to get by.
During this time, as millions of Americans have suffered through the pandemic, Jeff Bezos has seen his wealth balloon to $190 billion―a $77 billion leap.
Under President Biden’s billionaires income tax, people worth at least $100 million, mostly billionaires, would pay at least $360 billion more in taxes over 10 years―by taxing their wealth gains each year, just like the paychecks of working people are taxed.[2] Jeff Bezos would personally owe $35 billion in federal income taxes, which he would have 9 years to pay.[3]
Our allies at the Women’s March are organizing a postcard campaign to Jeff Bezos, letting him know how much he owes in taxes. Click here to download, print and send a postcard to Jeff Bezos today!
Together, we’re getting the attention of Congress and of the media in our fight to unrig our tax code and tax wealth like work!
Click here to join Americans for Tax Fairness and our allies at the Women’s March and send a postcard to Jeff Bezos today to demand he pay his fair share in taxes, just like you and I.
Thank you for fighting for a tax system and economy that works for everyone, not just the wealthy few.
