Hi,

Forests are essential to life on this planet as we know it. Forests enable the growth of thousands of plants used in medicines and food production, and compose vast ecosystems for thousands of species of animals.

Despite the planet’s need for forests, they have been disappearing at alarming rates. Since 1990, an estimated 420 million hectares of forest have been lost to deforestation and destruction. Though deforestation rates have slowed in the past few decades, it is estimated that 10 million hectares of forest were lost annually from 2015 to 2020.1

It is not enough to simply slow down, or even stop, the deforestation and destruction of forests. They must be rebuilt.

The Canopy Project <[link removed]> has planted tens of millions of trees worldwide since 2010. Reforestation is one of the most cost effective ways to tackle the climate crisis and remove CO2 out of the atmosphere,2,3 all while benefiting those of us who are the most vulnerable to the effects of climate change by adding natural protection from natural disasters, improving air quality, and restoring the environmental health of the area.

The forests have helped us all our lives. Return the favor by supporting the Canopy Project. <[link removed]>

For ourselves,

Kathleen Rogers

President
