Ruth’s List Florida is excited to announce our latest endorsement, Danielle Cohen Higgins for Miami-Dade County Commission, District 8. 

This is Ruth’s List’s second endorsement for Commissioner Cohen Higgins, who was appointed to her seat in 2020. She became the first person of Jamaican descent to serve on the Miami-Dade County Commission and is the only Black woman on the 13-person board. Our support of Cohen Higgins is crucial to ensuring at least ⅓  female representation on the commission.

Danielle has been deeply committed to serving the community. She’s worked to help strengthen Miami-Dade by improving affordability, investing in real transit solutions, and focusing on sustainable practices to protect and beautify our neighborhoods for generations to come.

Danielle is an attorney and small business owner who is involved in numerous community organizations. She served on the statewide board of Ruth’s List Florida, is a Young Ambassador to the Miami Children’s Health Foundation, a mentor with a local non-profit known as Take Stock in Children, and sits on the Board of Directors for the South Florida American Heart Association.
