By now you’ve probably heard the news about Ginni Thomas, wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and her involvement in the effort to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. You might be surprised to learn, though, that she is currently a government official – appointed in May 2020 by Donald Trump to serve on the Library of Congress Trust Fund Board.
As part of the Board, Ginni helps manage over $200 million in donations and investments for the library – and given the recent news about her involvement in overturning the results of a free and fair election, should be removed from the position. Anyone involved in such activities has no business serving as a government official.
Since taking office, President Biden has removed Trump appointees from other posts, and Ginni Thomas should be added to the list. As someone who has actively worked to undermine our democracy and overturn the results of a free and fair election, Ginni Thomas is unfit from holding ANY position that involves public trust or anywhere else in the government.
