How to get health advice over Easter

Pharmacies
Pharmacies offer clinical advice and over-the-counter medication for a range of minor illnesses. The full list of pharmacies in Oldham open during the bank holidays can be found here ([link removed]) .

Please note: other pharmacies may be open but have not notified NHS England GM office and are therefore not included in this list.

NHS 111
Please visit 111.nhs.uk ([link removed]) or call 111 if you have an urgent medical problem. It is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Out of Hours
If you have an urgent but not life-threatening medical problem over the bank holiday weekend, which cannot wait until your GP practice re-opens, please call NHS111 or visit www.111.nhs.uk ([link removed]) . Following an assessment, you will receive information about the appropriate service for your health problem.

GP Extended Hours Service
The GP Extended Hours Service is open as usual, offering a limited number of appointments for routine, non-urgent needs Saturday and Sunday, and will be running from the Integrated Care Centre (ICC) from 10am to 2pm on Good Friday and bank holiday Monday.

Oldham Walk In Centre at the ICC remains closed until further notice.

Enjoy the great outdoors this weekend but please act responsibly

The council and our partners hope you have a good time this Easter weekend.

If you are planning to get out and enjoy our countryside, act responsibly.

Don’t take any fires up to Dove Stone Reservoir, the Saddleworth Moors or Crompton Moor as they are banned – you’re risking a fine or prosecution if you do.

If it’s nice, why not take a picnic instead?

Moorland fires can have devastating consequences and we’ll be sharing hard hitting images across our communications channels that show the damage that can be caused by discarded cigarettes, fires and barbecues..

Anyone who sees a fire on the moors should ring 999.

If you are visiting any of our parks, green spaces or attractions park responsibly, respect the local area and the residents.

Easter bin collections
Just a quick reminder, collections are scheduled to go ahead as usual on Good Friday (15 April) and Easter Monday (18 April) so put bins out as normal.

For more information and to check your bin collection dates, visit our website here. ([link removed])

From 1 May Oldham Council staff will start tidying up streets, roads and alleyways in Failsworth East and West wards as part of the Don’t Trash Oldham campaign.

They’ll be carrying out a deep clean of the area removing all the litter, rubbish, fly-tipping and overgrown shrubbery they find – because no one wants to live in a tip.

Since the council started the campaign in September they have cleaned up more than 150 tonnes of litter, rubbish, fly-tipping and overgrown shrubs and cleaned more than 2,000 streets and alleys.

More than 300 people have been given fines for environmental crimes.

Once the clean ups have finished it’s up to you and your neighbours to keep your area clean because the council can’t keep coming back to tidy up.

For more information about the campaign visit www.oldham.gov.uk/DontTrashOldham

Covid vaccine clinics for 5 – 11 year olds

The Royal Oldham is now are offering Covid vaccine clinics every day for 5 – 11 year olds.

Appointments are bookable through the National Booking Service ([link removed]) or by ringing the hub directly on 0161 627 8102.

Those who have recently recovered from Covid should still come forward for their vaccination, as having had the virus does not give the same levels of protection.

Anyone over 18 who has had Covid will need to wait four weeks before having any dose of the vaccine, or 12 weeks for those aged 12 to 17.

Stay safe

Although legal restrictions have now been lifted, it's important to remember that COVID-19 has not gone away. If you show any symptoms of COVID-19 such as a high temperature or a new, continuous cough, loss/ change in your normal sense of smell or taste you should try and stay at home and avoid contact with other people. A full list of symptoms can be found here ([link removed]) ,

Take extra care to avoid close contact with anyone who is at higher risk of getting seriously ill from COVID-19 ([link removed]) .

You can go back to your normal activities when you feel better or do not have a high temperature. Find out more about what to do if you have COVID-19 or symptoms of COVID-19 ([link removed])

Having the COVID-19 vaccine is still the best protection against becoming seriously ill from COVID-19. Oldham residents can check where their nearest clinic is by visiting the Oldham Council website here ([link removed]) .
