[ [link removed] ]Welch for Vermont

Hello,

Student debt is a problem across the country—but it’s particularly bad in
Vermont. Student debt is higher here—$31,000 a person—than the national
average.

Higher education is often the gateway to the American middle class. In
many industries, bachelor’s or even master’s degrees are required for
entry level jobs. But as the price of college soars, Vermonters and people
across the country are getting crushed by debt.

[ [link removed] ]Everyone should have access to an affordable education—but people are
going into debt simply for pursuing a degree. It’s time we made higher
education available to all and delivered relief. Add your name right away
if you agree, and let’s work to make it happen.

The pandemic has only made it harder for families to make ends meet.
Canceling up to $50,000 of student debt would provide relief to millions,
start to close the racial wealth gap, and quicken our pandemic recovery.
President Biden has issued an emergency pause on federal student loan
payments through August. But people can’t live and plan with short-term
band-aids, they need long-term relief.

We shouldn't be punishing students with a lifetime of debt for simply
pursuing a higher education. Peter’s been listening to Vermont students
for years, and he’s heard about how they are forced into heavy debt to
finish school.

That’s why he continues to work to make higher education affordable and
reduce the crushing burden of student loan debt. He’s fighting to increase
access to community college, make debt-free public college a reality for
all, and reduce the burden of student loans. He’s fighting to solve the
student debt crisis today and make sure we don’t have another one on our
hands tomorrow.

And we need to fight by his side.

[ [link removed] ]If you agree it’s time to deliver relief to millions of Americans and
make sure everyone can get an education without getting crushed by debt,
add your name right away.

Thanks for taking action,

Team Welch
