Hi John,

We hope this email finds you safe and well. It’s been a packed first few months of the year, in economic news and at Positive Money. Here’s our latest campaign updates, media appearances and news from the team…

Shaping the future of money

Last year, we helped thousands of Positive Money Supporters answer the Bank of England’s survey on the future of digital money. Now, the Bank’s published a summary of the responses, and it looks like we’ve made an impression…

They got over 2,500 responses and the majority were from Positive Money supporters calling for a public digital money system. Thank you to everyone who took action 🥳

Changing the course of international financial flows

Back in February, a powerful group of central bankers known as the Basel Committee launched a public survey on how to make banks prepare for climate change. So together with our partners, we responded in our thousands. We called for them to end banks’ toxic lending practices, and challenged the greedy bank lobbyists trying to water down any new rules 🔥🌍

Changing the narrative on housing #HomesNotAssets

A few weeks ago we released an important report, Banking on Property: What is driving the affordability crisis and how to solve it. The research exposes the key drivers of extortionate rents and house prices in the UK - pinning it on decades of failed housing policy that’s turned our homes into vehicles for bankers and landlords to hoard wealth.

We had a launch webinar with Labour MP, Tulip Siddiq and Conservative MP, Kevin Hollinrake - and we got lots of media coverage (see below).

This short video tells the story of how we can start to fix our broken system - 14,000 people have viewed it on Twitter 🤩. So please watch and share it on Facebook or Instagram too. And see all our latest videos on our Youtube channel - don’t forget to subscribe!

Planning our year together

Our annual supporter survey is a chance to step back and reflect on all our work together. And this year’s results are in! We got an enormous response - over 1300 took part, sharing ideas on our campaigns and priorities for the year.

We’re overwhelmed by the energy and enthusiasm of the people in our movement - and we’re so excited to continue working together for a fairer, greener money and banking system.

Positive Money US

… is now up and running! We’re excited to announce that the website is now live, so be sure to join the mailing list and check out this intro video on Twitter.

Our director, Fran Boait was on talkRadio twice to discuss sanctions on Russia and Rishi Sunak’s weak Spring budget.

Our housing report was also covered in the Evening Standard, The Mint Magazine, Bloomberg, Tribune Magazine, iNews and the Morning Star and was the basis of a full feature article in the New Statesman.

Our senior economist and report co-author, Danisha Kazi wrote an article in Tribune magazine calling for Homes Not Assets.

We’re looking for a passionate Senior Digital Campaigner to join our campaigns team - to help mobilise the public behind our campaigns, manage our social media channels and write great emails to our movement - just like this one! The deadline to apply is Tuesday 10th May, so please pass on the job ad to anyone you think will be interested.

Thank you for all of your ongoing support. Wishing you a peaceful Easter break,

Nicole, Rachel and the entire Positive Money team
