Let me say that again: The Trump administration is officially encouraging discrimination against the LGBTQ community, women, and religious minorities.

They just released a proposed new rule that would allow the Department of Health and Human Services to award grant funds to groups that refuse critical social services or care to people based on their gender identity or sexual orientation. It's a sweeping, needlessly cruel proposal that could impact everything from the ability to access contraception through Title X to HIV and STI prevention programs to youth homelessness services to foster care placement and adoption.

HHS is required to collect comments from the public about any new rule they propose – so I need your help. Let's flood HHS with comments in opposition to this dangerous and cruel policy: Add your comment today (it only takes a minute or two — and it has a huge impact!).

Victories in this administration are few and far between – but we've succeeded in stopping bad HHS policies before and we need you to help us do it again. Earlier this year we actually stopped part of an HHS rule that would have jeopardized abortion access for patients with ACA insurance plans from going into effect — simply because we submitted so many comments, they couldn't go through them all in time to enact the policy.

We've got to give it our all again this time. This rule predominantly impacts LGBTQ folks, women, and religious minorities — communities that already have less access to quality, nonjudgmental care due to racism, sexism, classism, homophobia, ableism, and other systemic barriers. It's why they're more likely to rely on federally funded programs for their health care.

This proposed rule would throw up yet another barrier between people and the services by permitted HHS to give federally funded grants to programs that want to discriminate against the very communities these programs are designed to serve.
