Laurianne, one of our ESOL Instructors, is in her second year of teaching at the Center. She believes that language is key to helping immigrants and refugees feel at home in the U.S. One of her primary goals is to make learning an enjoyable activity “which can be a source of positivity.” She also ensures that this learning is practical, working with students on words and phrases that help them achieve common yet crucial tasks; she loves seeing the positive impact that language can have on her students’ lives, whether it enables them to talk to a bank teller or complete medical forms.
Thank you, Laurianne!
