Georgia Governor Brian Kemp just signed a dangerous new NRA-promoted bill into law to eliminate concealed carry permits in Georgia, against the wishes of a vast majority of gun owners and law enforcement officers, and opposed by 70% of Georgians.

We’re reaching out with an update we hoped we’d never have to send:

FIRST : We updated you last month about Georgia Republicans’ attempts to pass a “permitless carry” law during the legislative session, ending the current permit system for concealed carry in Georgia.

THEN : Against the objections of gun safety advocates, law enforcement officers, teachers, and preachers, Gov. Brian Kemp signed SB 319 into law yesterday, drastically loosening Georgia’s gun laws.

NOW : Anyone with a gun can carry a concealed weapon in Georgia. Anyone who purchases a gun through a private sale or a gun show without a background check will not have to pass one to concealed carry. This creates a dangerous new loophole for criminals to exploit and makes our Georgia communities less safe.

It’s clear that this new law was designed to appeal to extremists on the far-right – not the majority of Georgians. As a campaign, we are disgusted by Gov. Kemp’s choice to play political games that will have real-world consequences on people’s lives like increased gun crimes and deaths.
