The Guardian:
“Supreme court ruling on Wisconsin maps highlights its hostility to voting rights”
FIGHT BACK >>>[link removed]

John – We celebrated in a big way last week when the Supreme Court got a new justice: Ketanji Brown Jackson, the first Black woman to serve on the nation’s highest court. But the reality is that even Justice Jackson’s addition still doesn’t make the court a friend of fair elections.

In fact, here’s what A.G. Holder said when SCOTUS contradicted its recent decisions to reverse the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s choice of fairer state legislative maps:

"[The Supreme Court’s] willingness to act in an inconsistent manner and to ignore precedent raises real questions about its functioning… [This] inconsistent application of judicial power [is] manifestly and sadly undemocratic."

Here’s the thing, John: While we’re disappointed in SCOTUS’s conservative majority, we never based our strategy on this one court. When we launched the NDRC in 2017 with President Obama’s support, we knew that we couldn’t rely on the Supreme Court; A.G. Holder purposely led us to create a multi-faceted strategy that incorporates electoral, advocacy, public education, and litigation work, and that spans dozens of states and a federal effort.

Your support of this strategy is why we’ve been successful so far!

But our fight isn’t over – and with this inconsistent and problematic Supreme Court majority, we never know what’s coming next. That’s why we have to ask: Will you chip in today to help us keep working for fair redistricting?
