Forward Forward
Hello again,
A large number of Christmas events begin this weekend with the Stapleford Christmas light switch on tomorrow, the Kimberley Christmas Market on Sunday and other activities listed in the diary section.
I am delighted that Cemex have formally confirmed the sale of the Attenborough Nature Reserve to Notts Wildlife Trust with the launch of a special £1 million fund raising campaign on Sunday.
Meanwhile, my campaign for re-election is going very well (whatever the weather) and my thanks to the many volunteers for all their help and the growing support across Broxtowe from people of all political persuasions. Please let me know if you would like to help and whether you would like a poster.
Have a great weekend.
As ever,
Anna

Attenborough Lifeline Appeal

Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust is launching a £1 million "Lifeline" appeal on Sunday to complete their purchase of the  Attenborough Nature Reserve from Cemex and secure its future. I am pleased to be attending the launch. The sale has taken a long time to secure requiring careful negotiation with Cemex and the main funder Biffa. Congratulations to everyone who has been involved.

Aldi opens

Aldi is opening its new store in Stapleford next week. You may recall the supermarket chain had to build a number of houses before they could open the store, and with the houses successfully on the market, I am pleased they will now be able to open. Local Councillors and I stood up to Aldi to secure the new build and I believe it was very much the right thing to do.

Trowell Flooding

I was delivering my election newspaper in Trowell on Sunday morning and came across a number of roads that have suffered from flooding. I have raised the problem with the villages County Councillors as this is a Notts County Council matter. I will let you know their response.
Re-elect Anna Soubry campaign update
Please let me know if you would like a window poster board for your garden.
All help with the campaign is very much appreciated.
The Labour Party manifesto has been greeted with widespread shock and derision. In short it's a plan to double the size of the state with an £83 billion spending spree paid for by raising taxes for everyone - however little or much you earn. Labour's nationalisation plans, including free broadband, have not been costed in, adding yet more burden to our economy, and again they will be paid for by you. People will not forget that Labour relish spending your money, bringing our economy to the brink and leaving others to clear up their mess.  It is accepted by all the commentators, that Labour's manifesto would make our tax burden the highest since the second world war.
The manifesto is final proof if any were needed of the grip of the old hard left on the Labour Party. The economics of Blairism, the 'prudence' of Gordon Brown and even Ed Miliband's brand of socialism have all been abandoned by Jeremy Corbyn's Labour Party.
Out and about in Broxtowe it is increasingly clear that people are recognising Labour's candidate is one of Jeremy Corbyn's most loyal supporters. When he launched his campaign in Broxtowe (with a self proclaimed "communist") it was billed as "starting a revolution".
Broxtowe's MPs over recent decades have been from the centre ground of British politics - the same place my values and principles are rooted in. Labour's candidate would be markedly different - more interested in the revolution than representing everyone in Broxtowe in Parliament.

If re-elected I will continue to stand up for common sense and champion moderate, sensible politics.
The Lib Dems have stood aside in Broxtowe for me and Stan Heptinstall MBE has proposed me; Stan was a long serving Lib Dem Councillor in Bramcote and Stapleford and was Mayor of Broxtowe. My friend Ken Clarke has also declared his support kindly saying he has "always been a huge admirer of her efforts as the MP representing Broxtowe... I will be delighted if she is returned to the next Parliament."  I am touched and honoured to have their support.
Precious Aidoo has always voted Labour and she is one of a number of life long Labour voters who have pledged their support along with Leave supporter Harry Fitch from Stapleford.
Yvette Lamb is a Labour voter who has pledged her support and I am seconded by Sarah Harker from Awsworth.
I am so pleased Simon Tonks, former Chair of Broxtowe Conservatives, has pledged me his support. I am also supported by, Professor Sir Martyn Poliakoff, who has previously voted Labour.
