Wrap Up
It's hard to believe that a week has gone by since I stood in front of the New Hampshire State House and announced my intentions to suspend the campaign, but indeed it has.
In the last week I have done a lot of soul searching, been more discouraged than I would have imagined and John and others have disassembled our campaign office here in Charleston.
This one indeed hurt more than I would have thought, not because I was ever confused about winning an election, but because I had hoped to do a better job of getting out a message that I think is vital to our lives and our Republic. For this reason, I wanted to write and follow up with you, both to apologize for not being able to do more, and to thank you for your help.
On not doing more, timing is a big part of politics and as much as I wanted to go forward, I didn't want to waste our collective time and effort in simply shouting into the wind. No matter how important the message, if you can't get it out in politics...it doesn't make a difference. In this regard, the impeachment is most unfortunate. It made it tough on the Republican side of the aisle to get a message out on common sense ideas that will indeed impact our lives. So bottom line, I’m sorry for not seeing a way to do more. I will continue to look for other ways to voice what we both know on the dangers of continuing our present course. I’ll think on ways forward, and I’d ask that you do the same. Our collective voice is the only thing that can change things here.
I have been blown away and humbled by the number of people from across the country who sent financial help, encouragement and wisdom. Your help here meant a lot. I really thank you.
We are in the most perilous of times. We are marching toward a financial collapse that will imperil our lives and our country. It is guaranteed, and I can't describe my disappointment in not being able to make this point a part of this year’s Presidential race. It's so important - and so not being talked about. In addition to financial peril, as I said many times over the last few months, we desperately need a conversation about what it means to be a Republican. We have lost our way, and the President is taking us in very dangerous directions. To think he can shatter political norms and use the tone that he does without consequence to each one of us is a grand mistake.
I’ll stop before I begin preaching, but I just wanted to say how much I appreciated your help and confidence. Let's stay in touch. My email is

Thank you again.
Sincerely,
