Our student debt survey is critical in helping us understand the issues that affect you.
Over the past week, we’ve collected data and heard from hundreds of supporters about the challenges they face when it comes to student debt and how debt cancellation would transform their lives.
We want to thank all of our supporters who shared their feedback. Debt has touched our lives in some way. Your feedback is critical in helping us understand the barriers we face in the fight for progress.
In just a moment we’ll share some insights from folks who participated in our survey. We hope that after reading you’ll consider donating $5 or anything you can to our campaign so we can re-elect Ro to Congress as he continues to fight for student debt cancellation.

How has having student debt affected your life?
“My daughter has $50,000 in student loan debt and she can’t find a job that pays that much, so how are we supposed to pay that much money?”
“[My student debt] looms over me like a threat. The expected monthly payment is most of my paycheck. I feel punished for going into education. I regret going to college.”
“I cannot afford to buy a house. Now that I have a kid, I am not able to save for her college and feel like the cycle of student debt will continue.”
How would your life be different if federal student loans were forgiven?
“I would be able to purchase a stable long term home and provide sustainable healthy foods for my children. I could also put my children in sports for their mental and social health. I would be able to afford child care.”
“If my student loans were forgiven, I would be able to seriously think about settling down with my partner. I would feel an enormous weight has been lifted and I would have much less stress.”
“I would be at peace.”
