Friend --

In New York City today, we know that EVERYONE has a right to be exactly who they are.

No city goes bigger for Pride Month than we do in New York, and I can't wait to join neighbors and friends at the Pride Parade on Sunday to celebrate our city's LGBTQ+ communities. It's going to be one to remember -- especially because this year we're honored to host World Pride as our we recognize the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.

New York City is the birthplace of the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement, and this year, we are proud to announce we will soon be home to the world's first public memorial honoring trans activists Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, who fearlessly paved the way for generations to come.

But we can't truly honor legendary activists like Marsha and Sylvia without acknowledging this: we're not done building the future we want in this country. The ongoing battle for LGBTQ+ rights, like the ongoing battles against racism and sexism, is core to our agenda to put working people first in this country.

Progressives often feel like they have to pick and choose their battles, but we've shown in New York City that we can solve multiple problems at once. And that's why I'm in this fight. We've succeeded without making trade-offs on our progressive priorities, and we've shown that when we move forward together, we win. I know we can do it for America, too.

Happy Pride,

Bill de Blasio

P.S. We're now 648 contributions toward our goal of raising another 2,000 contributions before the quarter ends. But the deadline is Sunday at midnight. Can you contribute $1 today to help us keep giving working people a real voice in this primary?
