420 Is almost here. What will you do for marijuana justice?
=================================
Dear Friend,
It’s almost 4/20! A lot more than a date to celebrate, it’s a day to fight for marijuana justice. Even if you don’t partake, the fact that marijuana laws unjustly discriminate and unfairly incarcerate millions is enough to get fired up about.
Thanks to your interest in the Drug Policy Alliance, our fight for marijuana justice keeps gaining momentum. Just two weeks ago, the US House passed the MORE Act. Now, it’s time for the Senate to take action for marijuana justice, too.
In July, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden (D-OR), and Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) released a draft bill to federally deschedule marijuana and repair the harms caused by marijuana prohibition: the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act. We need to push the Senate to hold hearings and officially introduce the bill! DPA advocates are ready to directly confront federal policymakers in the coming weeks – but we need your support!

When you take action for marijuana justice today, you help us:
===Lead and mobilize a coalition of organizations and individuals calling to replace marijuana prohibition with policies that center community reinvestment, social equity, and justice.
===Shift the narrative about marijuana by educating the public and policymakers on the harms caused by the drug war and the need for policies grounded in science, compassion, health, and human rights.
===Now that the U.S. House passed the MORE Act, engage in direct advocacy with federal policymakers to move the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act forward in the Senate.
An overwhelming 91% of U.S. adults believe that marijuana should be legal for medical or adult use. Yet, every 90 seconds, someone is arrested for a marijuana offense. And due to targeted policing, those arrested are disproportionately likely to be Black, Latinx, Indigenous, or experiencing poverty. The laws must be changed!
Accelerate the fight for marijuana justice.
