Oxford Dictionaries has named "climate emergency" the 2019 Word of the Year. They define a climate emergency as:

a situation in which urgent action is required to reduce or halt climate change and avoid potentially irreversible environmental damage resulting from it.



Not bad! But if even the dictionary scribes recognize the need for "urgent action", why don't our elected leaders? Because, underneath our climate emergency, there lurks a democracy emergency, a racism emergency and a corporatism emergency.

Since 1984, the Green Party has been connecting these emergencies and — crucially — fearlessly driving them forward in the electoral arena. According to Oxford, usage of "climate emergency" has climbed over 10,700% in the last year. That's a big shift, but it was a long time coming. Too long, in fact!

We need similar jumps for "Ranked Choice Voting," "Proportional Representation," "Solidarity Economics," and more — ASAP!

The elites are feuding among themselves, feeding us constant distractions and delays, while people suffer and the emergency grows even more critical.
