We are thrilled to announce our honoree for this year's American Heritage Awards: Global gay rights activist and founder of Refuge America, Edafe Okporo.

A refugee from Nigeria, Edafe is a critical voice on the issue of displacement. His activism works to strengthen America as a place of welcome for LGBTQ people. 

The evening's impressive guest list continues with:

• Negin Farsad, named one of the Funniest Women by Huffington Post and host of political comedy podcast Fake the Nation.
   
• Emma's Torch, which will cater food for the night. Emma's Torch provides culinary training to refugees and helps them find meaningful careers in the food industry.
