INSIGHT

The Changemaking Ideas of the PEAK2022 Keynotes in Three Graphics

Our three keynotes focused on how centering people and equity in all that we do can drive transformational change. Using this series of graphic recordings, reflect on powerful insights and takeaways from Vu Le, Amoretta Morris, Aiko Bethea, Megan Reitz, Satonya Fair, Carmen Rojas, Susan Taylor Batten, and Sherece West-Scantlebury. Please share them with colleagues and spark a conversation about driving change!

In addition, recordings of all three keynotes are now open to the entire community. You'll find a link to each presentation in the post.

Thank you to Blackbaud for sponsoring these graphic recordings.

CHAPTER SPOTLIGHT

Our Chapters Shined Bright at PEAK2022!

PEAK2022 Online was a fantastic showcase of what PEAK chapters do best: curate engaging conversations and explore provocative ideas.

For example, in “Ceding Decision-Making Power to Communities Through Participatory Grantmaking,” PEAK Greater Washington, DC members learned how to give those most impacted by systems of oppression an active voice in funding decisions. PEAK Southern California members learned about how to impactfully improve their data management practices in “Grants and Data Management as Change Management,” and PEAK Southeast presented “Rethink Reporting,” where members learned how reporting practices have changed for the better as a result of the pandemic.

But this is only a small sample of the discussions held by chapters and attended by 458 philanthropy professionals. Conference registrants: Be sure to log in to the conference platform to enjoy these and other chapter offerings from PEAK2022 online.

Kudos to all the PEAK chapters for leading the way!

PEAK in Community

The latest news about our sector partnerships and how PEAK is advocating for more equitable grantmaking practices at conferences, convenings, and community conversations.

Kresge Foundation Director of Grants Management Genise Singleton recently hosted Satonya Fair and Sara Sanders, who spoke to her grants management team about PEAK’s role in advancing equitable practices, trust-based philanthropy, and the future of grants management and PEAK. It was a wonderful opportunity to engage with the Kresge team and recognize how each member is leading at this pivotal moment.

Satonya continues to stay engaged with the Council on Foundations, supporting their Career Pathways program as a mentor and sharing her leadership journey with the 2022 spring cohort.

Satonya was honored to be the March guest speaker for BUILD, National Life Group's first DEI initiative, which comprises almost 200 financial services professionals of color across the United States. The fireside chat, titled “Connecting the Dots,” was led by BUILD Cofounder NeAndre Broussard and focused on helping participants move from being transactional to transformational in their local communities.

Chantias Ford spoke at the Council of Michigan Foundations program “How Our Values Shape Our Work,” part of their 2022 Equity Signature Series, to share information and resources on PEAK's Tying Practices to Values Principle and how grantmaking institutions can improve their organizational culture, practices, and values. You can find the session recording here.

Altinay Cortes, Clare Larson, and Sara Sanders welcomed our strategic partner Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy (EPIP) as an Organization Member this month, hosting a virtual orientation for the entire staff. PEAK's membership team plans to continue the conversation by meeting with the EPIP membership team later this spring.
