Friends,
Over the last few days, we've watched a number of dedicated public servants testify before the nation.
They've put their careers on the line to speak the truth.
In response, however, they've been subjected to smear campaigns accusing them of dual loyalty or secret partisan allegiances.
Let me make one thing clear: I know that these attacks are absolutely baseless and a threat to the very foundation of our democracy. The people who serve our nation around the world as part of the foreign service, our intelligence agencies, and our military are some of the most dedicated patriots I have ever seen.
We must fight to protect those who uphold our democracy at home and overseas. Will you sign our petition and join me?
Friends, when my mom and her parents rebuilt their shattered lives in America after surviving the Holocaust, they instilled in our family a deep love of this country.
They encouraged us to help develop in other parts of the world a greater understanding of the American values of democracy and freedom.
Both of my parents shared this sense of duty, just as many of these witnesses have. In fact, I was born in New Delhi, India, where my parents were working for the U.S. embassy at the time, serving our country the best way they knew how.
You do not enter public service for fame or grand acclaim. You do so for the love of country, democracy, and freedom. These jobs can be difficult and dangerous, and civil servants should be free from fear of retaliation.
Yet, Republicans are working to undermine this effort, smearing our diplomats, civil servants, and others who selflessly serve our country.
From day one in the Bennet Administration, I will fight to protect those who uphold our democracy. Will you sign our petition and join me?
