The story is still developing. The Keystone pipeline recently burst in North Dakota, spilling more than 383,000 gallons of oil into nearby wetlands. This is a total disaster. The pipeline carries tar sands oil — when it spills into wetlands, it's virtually impossible to clean up.
There's just been a big update. Key members of Congress are now calling for a federal review of the pipeline. They're saying the spills raise "serious questions" about the pipeline owner's management of the line.
The company that operates the pipeline, TC Energy Corp (formerly TransCanada), recently got a green light from the Trump administration to expand the pipeline. The expansion, called Keystone XL, could be completely derailed by a federal review.
This may be our last opportunity to stop Keystone XL. We need to push hard to get this federal review. To pull this campaign off, we're asking every LCV member to pitch in — even if it's just $5.
A donor is triple matching every contribution right now. Please, friend — we need your help.

For years, LCV members have spoken out in solidarity with tribal and local communities to successfully stop the Keystone XL pipeline, the Dakota Access pipeline, and numerous other pipelines — and now, it's more important than ever that we keep up the fight.
Friend — there's a real chance we can pull this off. TC Energy Corp has been fighting to build Keystone XL for years. Every delay means huge expenses — they can't afford to keep this fight going forever, especially as clean energy technologies get cheaper every day.
We need your help. This campaign is going to take organizing at a grassroots level, lobbying in Congress, and potentially taking the Trump administration to court.
We need to raise $14,000 by the end of November to keep our work going strong. If everyone reading this right now pitched in just $5, we'd blow through that goal in minutes. Remember — a donor is offering a triple match, so your contribution goes even further than usual if you give today.
Please, triple your impact. If the environmental movement doesn't turn out in a big way right now, the Keystone XL pipeline expansion could be built. Donate today — even if it's just $5 »
Thank you — for everything that you do for the environment, friend.
Sincerely,
Adam, Brooke, Casey, ChiQuita, Elizabeth, Eric, Jim, Julie, Levi, Mike, Rachel, Sammi, and Vinnie
