I remember last year when the “experts” were telling us not to worry: the inflation was just transitory.

Well, here we are and inflation is at 8.5%, the highest it’s been since 1981. Grocery prices are up 10%. While the Biden administration is calling it “Putin’s price hike,” let’s remember that the inflation started well before the Russian invasion.

What could Congress and the White House be doing right now?

1️⃣ Well, to combat inflation, FDR issued an executive order creating an agency for price controls.

2️⃣ It’s within Congress’ authority to issue monthly checks to keep Americans afloat.

3️⃣ It’s within Congress’ authority to create a federal jobs program putting millions to work in good-paying jobs.

Don’t believe the hand-wringing: Congress and the President are NOT helpless to help you. They are CHOOSING not to help you. Why? Their donors don’t want them to.

If I were in Congress right now, I’d be pushing for monthly checks and a jobs program. What could I do as just one person in Congress? Well, I could write op-eds, go on the news, and hold demonstrations for these policies. I could put out a call for people to join me. Who knows how many would show up? Thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, or more? We don’t know, because no one in Congress is doing this right now.
