The American dream is gone because the concept of getting a great job right out of college, building a family, and being able to afford everything else, is just a facade.

Hello John,

The American dream has been replaced by the American facade.

American debt is at an all time high and we are just interest bearing slot machines that generate corporate dividends.  We’ve been electing the wealthy elite and the well connected for far too long.  In order to combat the growing gap between the wealthy elite and the rest of us, we must elect real working class Americans to Congress.

The average college graduate enters the workforce with a $500 monthly student loan debt and pays $450 a month for health insurance.  Purchasing housing is unaffordable for most, so renting at well above market rate eats up another $2,000 a month (Syracuse is a cheap market compared to some).  The cost of food, the real kind that isn’t made in a factory, costs another $1000 a month.

If your spouse wants to work, then the monthly childcare bill is $2500 a month for two kiddos, so the spouse often can’t afford to work.  I was a stay at home mother for a couple years by choice.  Too few spouses have that choice, but they should.

Without even discussing vehicles, savings, and taxes, the average American is unduly overburdened.  We must stop treating every single citizen like a corporate investment that generates loan bearing interest with profits that go directly into corporations’ pockets.

The American dream is gone because the concept of getting a great job right out of college, building a family, and being able to afford everything else, is a facade.

We must remove the burdens of debt and give Americans a fresh start.

  • Create a universal healthcare systems (like most of our peer nations), where the birth of a child does not result in a $10,000 debt
  • Make 2 year college and skilled trades education free and cap student loan interest rates at 0.75 percent for those pursuing even higher education
  • Create wage-driven affordable childcare that will pay the daycare employees a real living wage

In order to do these things, you must elect public servant to Congress, not the wealthy elite or the well connected.
