Donald Trump just whipped up an adoring crowd into a frenzy at another
right-wing MAGA rally in North Carolina this weekend — and it won’t
surprise you to learn that personal attacks against me were once again a
part of his routine.

“Russia, Russia, Russia, remember? Whatever happened to that one? And then guys
like the watermelon head Schiff, he goes back, and then he goes, Ukraine,
Ukraine, Ukraine. That turned out to be another hoax. Remember that?... I would
have had a problem because these people are horrible liars, Shifty Schiff gets
up to a microphone, this is a terrible thing for our country...”

Let us not forget: Trump attempted to extort Ukrainian President Zelenskyy
for dirt on President Biden by withholding military aid from that country.
In so doing, Trump made it clear to Putin that the United States didn’t
care about Ukraine, its people, or their democracy — and helped to pave
the way for the atrocities that Putin is now carrying out in Ukraine.

Joined at the North Carolina rally by the now-infamous Rep. Madison
Cawthorn and right-wing Senate candidate Ted Budd, Trump is sidling up to
the starting line of his next presidential run while boosting the
Republican efforts to reclaim control of Congress. These two things are
not unrelated: Trump knows that if he loses again in 2024, he will need a
Republican majority in Congress to overturn the results (just as he tried,
but failed to do in 2020).

As primary election season heats up, we're going to be seeing a lot more
of Trump and the QAnon cadre coming together for rallies every single week
in battleground states.

Leveling false and lunatic charges, spreading misinformation, and engaging
in pure fearmongering and demagoguery, Trump and his cronies only seek to
incite outrage and loyalty from their radical right-wing base.

John, we can't let Trump and his MAGA base control the
narrative about the upcoming midterm election. We need to fight back and
help Democrats who are running honest but hard-hitting campaigns.
