According to local officials, at least 16 people were injured—10 of them by gunfire—in the subway in Brooklyn during the Tuesday morning rush after a man released a canister of smoke and opened fire on a subway train, as the NYT reports

Putin Says War Will Continue
Russian president Vladimir Putin said negotiations with Ukraine have reached an “impasse,” and insisted that his military operation is going as planned and would continue until its goals are fulfilled. It’s unclear, Putin said, when the war will end, as the Washington Post reports
