That’s how many kids are growing up in conflict zones.  

Daryna* knows the horrors of war at just four years old. Last month, she fled Ukraine with her parents and two-year-old brother, trading the warmth and comfort of home for a distant camp in an unfamiliar country. 

“The children don’t understand what’s happening,” says her mother. “When we were running to hide in the cellar, Daryna said she was scared and talked about tanks coming.”  

John, images like this can stay with children for a lifetime. Bombs going off in their own backyards, ruins where their schools used to be, loved ones lost in the rubble – things no child should ever see. 

That’s why SCAN is working to have Congress prioritize children’s mental health globally and ensure they get the education and nutritional support they need to survive and thrive. Our advocates’ voices are powerful – but they rely on your financial support to amplify them.
