The GOP has dark plans for Michigan and we are on the frontlines to stop their efforts to overthrow our democracy.
Recently, far-right militants have united with major GOP donors — including Betsy DeVos — to exploit our state’s ballot measure rules to bypass our Governor’s veto pen to restrict voting rights, take away some of the governor's public health emergency powers, and turn private schools into tax shelters for the wealthy.
Their plan is to gather signatures on their petitions to send extreme bills directly to the state legislature. These bills won’t go before voters on the ballot and if successful, Governor Whitmer can’t veto them.
These extreme, far-right groups make up a small part of Michigan’s population, but right now, they are trying to instill permanent control over our state. We must stand together to stop them.
Our best lines of defense are to elect Michigan Democrats to office and to recruit and train volunteers who are ready to get voters the information, tools, and resources they need to cast a ballot.
