We The Action Volunteer,

Did you know that today is the national Thank Election Heroes Day of Action? Across the country, volunteers are participating today in events to celebrate election workers who ensure our elections run smoothly and efficiently.

We know our lawyers care deeply about protecting democracy, so we've found some of the best volunteer projects for lawyers like you to help ensure elections are safe and secure. You can find more information about these opportunities below. Thank you in advance for any time you can donate to these worthy projects.

6—10 HOURS

Help Defend Election Officials

Election Official Legal Defense Network

With state election officials facing increased harassment, threats, and legal challenges, lawyers are needed to represent them. This is a remote opportunity, and lawyers may be barred in any state.

21+ HOURS

Help Update National Tool to Recruit Poll Workers

Fair Elections Center

A nonpartisan voting rights group needs help updating and confirming legal information for their national poll worker recruitment tool. Training provided. This is a remote opportunity, and lawyers from any state are welcome to volunteer.

1—5 HOURS

Join an Event to Help Formerly Convicted People Restore Their Voting Rights

Florida Rights Restoration Coalition

On April 22, an organization dedicated to ending the disenfranchisement of people with convictions is hosting a Researchathon — a nationwide, coordinated event for lawyers to help formerly convicted people restore their voting rights. This is a remote opportunity, and lawyers from any state are welcome to volunteer.

You're invited to an exclusive lunch & learn event to learn more about the effort to support Afghan refugees!

Join We The Action and  Lindsay Goldford Gray, national immigration expert and CEO of Texas Immigrant Justice organization VECINA, for a conversation about the current state of asylum applications for recently arrived Afghans. During this Zoom event, Ms. Goldford Gray will discuss how processes have (and haven't) changed under the Biden administration and what's next for refugees and asylum seekers in the United States. We hope you and your loved ones are healthy and safe.

Best,
The We The Action Team
