Irwin has also been a pro-Israel champion his whole life. Irwin served as a cantor at the Tree of Life Synagogue and has visited Israel five times, including with former Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto. Irwin knows how critical the U.S.-Israel relationship is to both countries. He has made clear that he believes U.S. security assistance is key to ensuring Israel can defend itself by itself and continue to be a force for good in the world. |
But it’s not going to be an easy race. Just next month, the primary will decide the outcome of this election. And Irwin's main competitor is getting support from anti-Israel groups and organizations - like the Democratic Socialists of America. This race could be critical for the U.S.-Israel relationship in Congress. Irwin's opponent has openly accused Israel of “undeniable atrocities” and questioned Israel’s right to defend itself.
