John,
Shoring up the integrity of our elections is one of the most important – if not the most important – issues facing our state and nation. That’s exactly what I wrote in the Post and Courier.
I hope you'll take a moment to read my op-ed and share this article with friends and family if you agree that one of our top priorities must be ensuring and protecting the integrity of our elections.
Yours very truly,
Henry McMaster Governor of South Carolina

Numerous studies show that many Americans are losing faith in elections, especially after the controversies of 2020. As we in South Carolina enter another political season, our No. 1 priority must be to protect the integrity of our elections. So, I have a request for our citizens.
I think we all agree that South Carolinians should be able to cast their ballots freely and with confidence, knowing that they will be properly counted and reported. Unfortunately, through error, irregularities, accident and even fraud, that confidence is sometimes destroyed.
When I was U.S. attorney in the Reagan administration, we convicted more than 30 people for election fraud in South Carolina. The Heritage Foundation maintains an election fraud database that documents 1,311 cases of voter fraud across the country in the four decades since then, resulting in more than 1,100 convictions.
