I remember when I was a kid in the closet, I was so scared to be perceived gay, I had my high school ‘girlfriend’ burn me a copy of a Britney Spears album because I was terrified for it to show up on my iTunes purchase history and be confronted by my parents.
Laugh all you want — I can laugh about it now. But as a queer kid coming of age in a homophobic society, I really was that scared.
And with Ron DeSantis’ “Don’t Say Gay” Bill in Florida, thousands of kids RIGHT NOW are going through the same paralyzing experience I did.
And of course, Lauren Boebert supports her buddy Ron’s gross agenda. She is pushing bigotry even further, saying we should hide away in shame.
But I’m not ashamed. I’m going to say it:
When kids in Colorado, Florida, and all across the country, turn on the TV or go on social media, they see their representatives spew hateful garbage about them and their community.
We have to kick these bigots out for the sake of the LGBTQ community and others like it. And that’s exactly why I am running, but I need to build a HUGE team to take them down.
