I’ll keep fighting for meaningful action and laws to reduce gun violence

Friends,

Today was an important day in our fight to make our communities safer from gun violence.

I was honored to join President Biden today as he signed an executive order to crack down on so-called “ghost guns” and enact other public safety measures.

We’ve already seen the toll these undetectable, untraceable guns have taken on our communities here in Maryland. That’s why the Maryland General Assembly recently stood up to the NRA and took action to ban ghost guns from our state.

Ghost guns are especially dangerous to our communities because they can be easily purchased over the internet, without a background check — and they don’t have serial numbers, so they are untraceable.

The new regulations outlined in President Biden’s executive order are common-sense updates that will address evolving technology and save lives.

But while this federal action is an important step, our work to reduce senseless gun violence is far from over.

Yes, we must make background checks universal.

Yes, we must ban assault weapons.

Yes, we must ban the use of high capacity magazines.

Will it be easy? No it will not be.

The NRA and their allies will continue to fight every inch of progress with every ounce of their being.

But even if Republicans don’t have the courage to stand up to the gun lobby, I’ll never stop fighting til we win. Because in this fight, winning means saving lives.

So I am asking:

Add your name to my petition calling on Congress to take comprehensive action that will make our communities safer from gun violence in this country.

ADD YOUR NAME

Thank you in advance for raising your voice — and not giving up.

Onwards,

Chris
