Hi team,
My campaign’s newest TV ad tells my family’s personal health care story. When our twins were born prematurely, we had to fight with the insurance company just to get the formula that our babies needed to survive. Once I was elected to the state senate, I passed a law to help other Kentucky families in the same position. I’m running for Congress to expand access to quality, affordable health care so that no family has to choose between life-saving medicine and putting food on the table. Will you take a moment to watch the ad and consider making a contribution to my campaign for Congress? >>
My twin son and daughter were born 14 weeks premature. They weighed just a pound and a half at birth and needed a special formula to help with their development and growth.
Our insurance company said they wouldn’t cover the expense for formula, and my wife Chris and I had to fight with them for months to get the twins the nutrients they needed to survive.
When I was elected to the state senate, Chris and I decided to use my new position to help Kentucky parents in the same position that we were in. I wrote and passed a law mandating that health insurance companies cover formula for extremely low-birthweight babies. It was the first law that I ever passed, and the first new mandate for health insurance companies in Kentucky in over two decades.
And while I’m proud that I’ve been able to help Kentucky parents who give birth prematurely access the life-saving formula that their new babies need, I know that the fight to provide everyone equal access to quality, affordable health care is far from over.
That’s why I’m committed to bringing affordable, quality health care to every family in the country.
No one should have to struggle to afford health care. I’m running for Congress to expand access to quality, affordable health care to everyone. Can I count on you to chip in anything you can right now to help me win this fight?
Thank you for letting me share my family’s story. I’m glad to have you on this team.
