Let’s be clear: No public school teacher should have to work a second or third job just to make ends meet.
Teachers go to incredible lengths to give our kids the best possible start — something Roy knows firsthand. Growing up, his mom was a public school teacher in Nash County, and she instilled in him a lifelong respect for our educators.
As governor, Roy has fought to make sure public school teachers get fair compensation that recognizes how hard they’ve had to work to make sure students continue receiving the quality education they deserve, even amidst a pandemic.
We’re proud that our new budget includes teacher raises, but they aren’t enough. Teachers’ salaries still aren’t keeping up with inflation. And North Carolina teachers still earn less than those in many other states.
Roy supports efforts to bring teacher pay up to par. Now, he wants to hear from you:
