John,

Earlier this year, myself and other DFA staff were on the ground in Texas supporting our candidates like Greg Casar and Jessica Cisneros in the lead-up to their primary elections.

What we saw made clear that Republicans want to make it harder for Americans to vote.

Simply put: We witnessed firsthand how GOP voter suppressions laws will directly target the voters we need to win by creating tremendous hurdles for people trying to participate in our democracy.

The Texas primary was a practice run for Republican attempts to regain power and as long as we have racist voter suppression laws being jammed through by Republican-controlled state legislatures, none of our rights are safe.

To continue making progress on building a more inclusive, representative democracy, we must protect our voting rights.

That’s why even in the face of fierce opposition, we need DFA members to tell the Senate to protect the right to vote by passing critical voting rights legislation.

This is about which of our senators are willing to fight for our rights, instead of turning the Senate into a seal of approval for the GOP's voter suppression agenda.

We cannot afford to be silent now because, without immediate action, Americans across the country could be denied the ability to participate in our democracy.

While the Senate sits on legislation that would restore the Voting Rights Act, the Republican Party will continue pushing to suppress and intimidate voters.

Tell Senate Democrats to protect the right to vote by passing critical voting rights legislation now.
