President Biden recently announced yet another extended pause on student loan payments through the summer. While the extended pause will bring short-term relief to student borrowers, it’s not enough.

It’s time to cancel student debt.

A study by the American Association of University Women shows that women hold two-thirds of education debt and Black women have the highest average student debt total after graduation.

Student debt is a racial injustice issue. As Black women face the disproportionate effects of the student loan debt crisis, opportunities to advance are limited and the racial wealth gap widens.

That’s why Barbara’s position hasn’t changed. It’s time to cancel student debt — all of it.
