On Thursday, during the vote to confirm soon-to-be Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, VP Kamala Harris handed Senator Raphael Warnock a piece of paper and suggested he write a note to "someone who comes to mind."

He wrote a note to his daughter, Chloé:

During her confirmation speech at the White House on Friday, Jackson remarked that she was “standing on the shoulders of her own role models” and mentioned Judge Constance Baker Motley, who served as the first Black woman on a federal court.

"For all the talk of this historic nomination and now confirmation, I think of them as the true path-breakers," she said. "I'm just the very lucky inheritor of the dream of liberty and justice for all."
