John,

Prices are rising, and Social Security checks aren’t keeping up. Seniors on fixed incomes are struggling to afford basic necessities.

In a recent report from the Washington Post, Social Security beneficiaries reported “cutting back on meat and vegetables” as a result of rising prices.

After a lifetime of working hard and paying into Social Security, seniors shouldn’t be struggling to afford food. It’s long past time to expand Social Security’s modest benefits.

Social Security Works is fighting to expand Social Security and take on Big Pharma greed so that every senior can afford food and medicine. Chip in $5 to support our work.

America is the wealthiest country in the history of the world. We can easily afford to protect and expand Social Security benefits — if we require the wealthy to pay their fair share. And with corporations jacking up prices during a pandemic and raking in record profits, it’s clearer than ever that we need to tax the rich!

Social Security beneficiaries got an automatic 5.9 percent cost of living raise in January. But it’s already been eaten away — and then some — by rising prices. We need to:

  1. Increase Social Security benefits across the board.
  2. Fix the way the yearly cost of living increases are calculated so that they reflect the real expenses beneficiaries face.
  3. Take on corporate monopolies, especially Big Pharma monopolies, so that they can’t keep raising prices unchecked and eating away at our earned benefits.

We must come together to stop rising prices from eating away at our earned Social Security benefits. Can you donate $5 to expand Social Security and take on corporate greed?
