Hi team - it’s Gretchen Whitmer again with an update. Last week, I filed a lawsuit to protect abortion rights in Michigan.
The Supreme Court could overturn Roe v. Wade this year, so I'm using my authority as governor to go directly to Michigan's Supreme Court and urge them to stop our nearly century-old abortion ban from going back into effect and enshrine reproductive rights in our state’s constitution.
Please, will you make a gift of $1 or more to stand up to radical attacks on reproductive freedom and elect strong leaders across the country?
Team, make no mistake, I will always stand up for reproductive rights.
Right now, if Roe is overturned, abortion could become illegal in Michigan in nearly any circumstance – including in cases of rape and incest. That’s why I filed a lawsuit using my executive authority to urge the Michigan Supreme Court to immediately act to strike down one of the country’s most restrictive abortion laws.
We need to double down today to ensure that reproductive rights are protected now and for generations to come. But the only way to do so is to elect pro-choice governors.
Governors are our last line of defense on the most important issues we face – from ensuring that reproductive freedoms aren’t erased to protecting the right to vote and investing in public education.
The Democratic Governors Association is counting on grassroots supporters like you to power strong, pro-choice leaders to victory this year. Please rush a $1 gift right now to help them close the gap and hit their $50,000, 24-hour goal and defeat anti-abortion radicals wherever they are.

Thank you for your support,
Gretchen Whitmer
Governor of Michigan
Gretchen Whitmer is the governor of Michigan. Since she was elected, she has helped create thousands of good-paying jobs, invested nearly $5 billion to fix the damn roads, and made the largest education investment in Michigan’s history.
She’s running for reelection in one of the most competitive races in the country. Will you chip in $1, or whatever you can, today to help strong leaders like Gretchen Whitmer win in November?
