John,While the eyes of the world focus on Ukraine and decent people are sickened by the crimes of the invading Russian forces, Big Oil is gouging consumers at the pump.

Big Oil views the Ukrainian conflict through a profit lens. Executives of the major oil companies are using international turmoil to pad their bottom line with no consideration for America’s hardworking families.

All Big Oil can see are dollar signs.

This was made painfully clear during a House Energy and Commerce Oversight hearing this past week, led by Subcommittee Chair and SEEC Member Diana DeGette. The CEOs of Chevron, ExxonMobil, Shell, and other oil executives failed to square their claims that they aren’t price gouging with the reality that they are currently making record profits.

But ,Big Oil’s callous profiteering response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine should come as no surprise.

For decades, Big Oil executives have placed profit over global responsibility. For them, it’s “drill, baby, drill” 24-hours a day, seven days a week, with no thought for the lasting impact on our environment.

That’s why SEEC members of Congress are holding Big Oil accountable for their actions and their impact on climate change. Big Oil executives can run, but they can’t hide their gross exploitation from congressional oversight by Democrats.

At least, so long as Democrats maintain their committee gavels. At the same Energy and Commerce hearing, Republicans made it abundantly clear that they were on the side of the oil executives and that if they were in charge, they wouldn’t hold Big Oil accountable at all.

John, this is why it is essential that we keep our SEEC members in Congress. Can you donate immediately to ensure they keep control of Congress and continue to keep Big Oil in check? [[link removed]]
