As Russia continues to wage war in Ukraine and Communist China shows clear signs of oncoming aggression in Taiwan, the Biden Administration is advancing a dangerous strategy of “integrated deterrence” that will effectively defund the military and cut hard power abroad.

REP. GALLAGHER ON RUSSIA-CHINA ALLIANCE

Bottom Line: “Prior to the invasion at the beginning of the Olympics, [Putin and Xi] signed this 5,000-word pledge of friendship without limits. We’ve heard various reports that China is considering providing lethal assistance to Russia, giving them a lifeline. We need to be absolutely clear that if the Chinese decide to do that, then there will be consequences.”

REP. GALLAGHER ON INTEGRATED DETERRENCE

Bottom Line: “The buzzy term is being used to justify cuts to conventional hard power that please progressives. The [Biden] Administration’s embrace of integrated deterrence is an abandonment of the Pentagon’s previous strategy of deterrence by denial. That required the U.S. to maintain enough military strength to turn back an adversary’s aggression, particularly in Taiwan or Eastern Europe.”

HOLDING THE BIDEN ADMIN. ACCOUNTABLE

Bottom Line: “Republican Wisconsin Rep. Mike Gallagher pressed U.S. Gen. Tod Wolters, who admitted that he could not argue with the conclusion that President Joe Biden’s administration failed to ‘dissuade’ Russia from invading Ukraine. Gallagher went on to note that it was a ‘good thing’ that Russia had not invaded NATO territory, but called it ‘a low bar for success.’”

CRISIS ON OUR SOUTHERN BORDER

Bottom Line: “Joe Biden brought on the surge of migrants at the U.S. border, and it’s about to get bigger. The White House will end Title 42 — a Trump-era CDC policy that turned away asylum-seekers to prevent the spread of Covid — on May 23, removing the last defense against a complete deluge at the border. According to U.S. intelligence officials, there could be another 170,000 migrants at the border in short order.”
