Dear John,
A first of its kind report was released today, led by Ceres and scientists at the Global Institute for Water Security (GIWS) at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada, which reveals how industry practices are driving critical threats to global freshwater systems, including groundwater depletion, metal contamination, plastic pollution, water diversion and transfer and eutrophication.
The Global Assessment of Private Sector Impacts on Water, released in partnership with the Valuing Water Initiative, identifies the 12 industries and practices contributing to the most severe and systemic impacts to water resources. It provides valuable insights to institutional investors seeking to advance corporate adaptation and innovation to pressing systemic water and climate system threats, and offers a practical set of recommendations for the broader private sector to follow.

Join Ceres on Thursday, April 14th at 11am ET for “
The Scientific Case for Investor Action on Water Risks,” a webinar with leading water experts and California State Controller Betty Yee to discuss the findings of the report.
|
Participants will explore the growing water crisis and how industry activities are leading to severe and systemic impacts on freshwater resources, learn how damaging water impacts pose long-term financial risks to the business community, and identify core actions companies and their investors can take to mitigate financial risk. |
We hope to see you on Thursday.
