Team, I joined John King on CNN last week to discuss Ukraine.

Bipartisan sens propose using funds from seized Russians assets to help Ukranian refugees and reconstruction

The Ukrainian people are fighting for their lives, their homeland, and their democracy right now, and it’s urgent we make sure they have the humanitarian and military supplies they need to fight off Putin’s violent aggression.

As Putin’s assets and the assets of his Russian oligarch cronies are being seized, any funds from those assets ought to go towards helping the Ukrainians recover from the war he’s instigated.

That’s why I introduced legislation to make sure Putin and his Russian oligarchs pay the price by directing funds from their seized assets to help Ukrainian refugees and reconstruction. Putin and his allies must be held accountable for supporting violence and destruction.

The Ukrainian people are now fighting for so many of the things we hold dear: the freedom of speech, the right to self determination, the freedom of the press, and more. Those are enduring values and we need to be with them, not just through this war, but on the other end.

This war could last a long time. When recovery begins, this legislation could help the Ukrainian people recover.

I’ll be in touch with more updates as I have them. Thanks for being with us.
