Hello,
One of the first votes I cast as a new congressman was to raise the minimum wage. We passed that bill, and the president signed it into law.
That was in 2007. Congress hasn’t increased the minimum wage since then, the longest gap without a raise since the minimum wage was created.
I’ve been fighting to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour and make it automatically rise with the cost of living—so inflation wouldn’t mean a pay cut for hardworking Americans. You know, economists say that if the federal minimum wage kept up with workers’ productivity, like it used to, it would be $23 an hour today!
An increased minimum wage gives hard working folks a chance at the American dream, and I’ll vote for a minimum wage increase as senator just like I did as congressman. But if the GOP flips this targeted seat and takes back the Senate, there will be no chance at increasing the minimum wage.

The vast majority of Americans support bumping the federal minimum wage up to $15 an hour.
It’s popular, and it’s the right thing to do—hard working Americans shouldn’t have to worry about putting food on the table and keeping a roof over their heads. Raising the minimum wage up to $15 an hour by 2025 would give nearly 30 million workers a raise while lifting over a million families out of poverty.
We’ve all seen that times are tough and costs are rising for millions of working people. A minimum wage hike is a direct way to relieve some of that stress at the kitchen table. It will be a top priority for me as Vermont’s next senator. But first, we’ve got to keep working together to win this race.
Chip in $15 to our Senate campaign today.
Thank you,
Peter
