I've spent the last two weeks on vacation in Paris and Amsterdam. On day two, I proposed to the love of my life Carmel. I’ve produced some big events in my life, but this was the most important to me. It was an enormous amount of details to plan, producing an event across the world, where the star of it could not have any idea it’s happening. So I was a bit consumed with secretly executing it well. I asked on day two so I could relax after. And so carmel could enjoy the trip being engaged. So I planned a whole elaborate thing based on her favorite movie Amelie, which takes place in Montmartre in Paris. I got down on one knee and proposed. She said she’d get back to me.
That’s not true. She said yes! Well technically she just nodded. Does that count? Holy shit maybe I’m not engaged. I’m not sure now. I’m pretty sure we are. (See photos below.) Either way, it was a magical experience. And we had the best trip possible.
I mean we did get in a fight the day after the engagement because she didn’t want to shoot a second social media video for me in a row. I said “Do you remember yesterday when I pulled off a magical experience, making your your favorite romantic movie come to life?” That point seemed to resonate. She replied however, pretty strongly, with “At least I didn’t make you wait 4 years to shoot it.” Snap. Point to Carmel. It was just a quick disagreement really, and the rest of the trip was bliss. (Partly because I asked her to shoot less videos. Not none though, cuz I’m me.)
We spent a week in Paris and a week on my favorite city Amsterdam. The rest of the trip involved celebrating, drinking, eating way too much, microdosing the right amount, smoking some weed, doing some standup, seeing a car sink in the canal, biking, visiting palaces, and dancing at an underground night club in an abandoned railroad. It was pretty much perfect. (Except the open question of if I’m actually engaged or not.)
Come celebrate with me! This Sunday April 10 I’m doing my first interactive virtual comedy show in three weeks! A matinee at 1p/4e. Get a ticket for “GLEIB OFF THE TOP: Crowd Work & Improvised Madness” HERE. I’m also doing a post show VIP intimate video hang after where I will answer a question from everyone. Thanks for all your support, always.
