The nation soundly rejected Palin’s politics 14 years ago when she was John McCain’s running mate in the 2008 presidential election. But now she’s decided to run for Alaska’s open Congressional seat, and Donald Trump is supporting her.

It’s easy to forget how dangerous Sarah Palin is, as our collective memory has been tempered by Tina Fey’s folksy caricature of her on Saturday Night Live. But Palin was one of the founders of the insurrectionist movement. In 2010, she called for “another revolution” against the Obama administration.

Her revolution was delayed. But it came on January 6th, 2021.

Now, other Republicans are following in her footsteps – Marjorie Taylor Greene, Madison Cawthorn, Lauren Boebert, and the list goes on. What will happen if the “mama grizzly” (as Palin calls herself) who started it all gets to DC? We shudder to think.

But John, Sarah Palin’s return to politics is made possible by Donald Trump. He is still the king- and queen-maker in the Republican Party. The former President of the United States and current ruler of Mar-a-Lago liked what he saw in Sarah Palin, and that fact alone should worry us. Sarah Palin paved Trump’s path to power with lies and conspiracy theories. Now he’s returning the favor.
