Friend,

I want to talk about a topic that’s on a lot of people’s minds lately: gas prices.

Last month, I met with local operating engineers to talk about the spike in gas prices and some of the big projects happening in Montana to help reduce our dependence on foreign energy sources. We talked about the importance of strengthening domestic energy production and how to diversify our energy sources by investing in wind, solar, and hydroelectric energy.

But there are some big energy projects happening in our state that aren’t benefiting Montana families.

Clearwater Energy is building Montana's largest wind farm, Clearwater Wind. Unfortunately, the developers are taking the low road. They’ve hired about 350 workers -- the majority of which are not from Montana, not unionized, and not being paid prevailing wages. This is all happening on our watch.

Infrastructure jobs in Montana should be given to Montana workers, not contractors from out-of-state. Will you rush $3 to my campaign today to help us advocate for good paying jobs, wages, and unions to support the working families in MT-01?

Montana workers who have all the skills and experience to do the job aren’t being offered the opportunities happening right in their backyard. There aren’t many other employment options available right now for folks in Rosebud County, so it's a complete slap to the face to see these jobs go to out-of-state workers from Texas, Oklahoma or California.

These are the kinds of projects and moments where we need to step up and fight for Montana families. I was raised by a union carpenter, I wouldn’t be here without those good jobs and wages. Our families deserve better, and Clearwater energy needs to do better.

So, if you can, please consider donating $3 to my campaign today. I’ve spent my career fighting for opportunities for working families, and development projects like this show us there’s more work to be done.
