John – This week Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson made history as the first Black woman confirmed for appointment to the Supreme Court of the United States.
Only three Republican senators joined Democrats in favor of her confirmation, leaving the final vote 53 to 47.
ALL THREE of the Republican Senators that Brand New Congress is running to replace voted against Justice Jackson – including Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, who is running for re-election against BNC’s Charles Booker.
This vote was too close. We couldn’t be sure that we could count on any Republicans to vote in her favor, and frankly, we couldn’t be certain all the Democrats would either.
As long as the Senate swing vote belongs to hardline conservative Democrats like Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, all the progress we need to achieve – all the progress that is possible and within our power – can be shut down.
Brand New Congress needs your help to take control of the Senate swing vote by making sure Mitch McConnell never gets to be Majority Leader again, and that progressives outnumber conservative Democrats in the world’s most powerful legislative body.
Will you help us celebrate Justice Jackson’s appointment by making sure we elect a progressive Senate majority to keep fighting for change?
