We’re still processing the heartbreaking news that there will be no charges against the Minneapolis police officer who killed Amir Locke. I urge you to read statements from Amir Locke’s mother and continue holding Mayor Frey — who has complete authority over MPD — accountable.

Through our grief and anger this week, there are still signs of spring. That’s the unofficial theme of this week’s Digest.

1. Amir Locke

"I am not disappointed, I am disgusted with the City of Minneapolis. Very disgusted. I'm to the point where I want to take back the residency of both my sons from that city. ... I don't want [Amir] to be remembered for a city that we embraced and raised our children in, and then you decided in less than 9 seconds to take my baby's life?"

"That's not fair. It's not fair that I had to go and pick up ashes of my baby from my niece because I was too distraught to pick his ashes up. Did you think I was going to bury my son in the ground of the place that murdered him? No."

Our hearts are with the family and loved ones of Amir Locke. We are clear that if Mayor Frey had banned no-knock warrants as he claimed to in his re-election campaign, Amir Locke could still be alive. 2. JUSTICE JACKSON!
